Meaning of Justice
Justice is the most discussed and most important right of the people. It is the main objective of the state and its government to ensure social, economical and political justice for all the citizens. Justice demands the securing of a fair distribution of equal treatment of equals, social advantages, proportionate and just rewards for all. Justice is the basis of orderly human life and promotes harmony between individual interests and the interests and demands of society.
Justice stands for rule of law, system of equal rights and freedoms and equal opportunities for all in society. It stands for securing equitable and fairer distribution of needs, goods and benefits to all the people of the state. Actually, Justice stands recognised as the first main ideal or objective to be secured by the state. In the Preamble, the Constitution of India gives first priority to the securing of social, economic and political justice for all its people.
Definitions of Justice
The word ‘Jus’ means ‘Bond’ or ‘Tie’. Justice can be defined as a system in which humans are joined or tied in a close relationship or Justice means bonding or joining or organising people together into a right or fair order of relations. In other words, Justice means protecting or securing the rights of all in a fair way and order. It stands for orderly living, harmony among all the people and securing the rights of all people in a just and fair way.
Justice is also linked with other values like rights, equality, liberty and property. The right or fair ordering of human relations in which each person gets his due rights and duties as well as due rewards is what makes a society characterised by Justice. It stands for making adjustments in human relations in respect of these values.
Justice involves the securing of a due and proper balance in all areas of human relations and gives just and fair distribution of rewards in society. Every individual enjoya a respectful, active and fair due place in society.
